Live Love Day 2010 in Chandler was a
wonderful mix of hard work, service, celebration and fun! A big THANK
YOU to the 800+ people who joined together with neighbors in
compassionate acts of service all over Chandler. Approximately 60 resident families worked with volunteers on
home improvement projects in 4 neighborhoods. These projects included
exterior and interior painting of homes, laying gravel, landscaping and
painting and minor home repairs. We believe connecting people through partnerships is one key to building strong communities. For this reason in conjunction with the National Make a Difference Day in October, we have joined with the City of Chandler for the past 3 years in hosting Live Love Day for Chandler. This event in 2009 brought together over 800 community volunteers who worked side-by-side in a local downtown neighborhood that had been identified as being in need of some practical help. Area businesses donated materials and funds needed to complete exterior home improvements. Volunteers and residents worked together to restore beauty and dignity in the lives of our neighbors, which is one way to Live Love in Chandler. |

We have a new Teen Resource Center that can use volunteers. We serve youth from the west side of Chandler. Here is the information: |
CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICTThe Chandler Unified School District has a number of service opportunities within the District. A long-term service initiative would be to “adopt” a school and provide tutoring, and other services, to the students, teachers, and parents. Another area of service could involve helping provide paper, crayons, etc. There is also a need for physical repair projects, such as painting, planting trees, repairing playground equipment, etc. Two high need schools in Chandler have been identified for long and short term commitments to helping youth. Work can involve helping with basic needs/life skills, donation of school supplies, and one on one mentoring. Some of these projects could be undertaken by either individuals or groups. Contact Kimberly Guevara, who is the Chandler School District representative on the Host Committee for more information. |
